Alloy 20, also known as Carpenter® 20 and Incoloy® 20, is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy. This super alloy, which also includes copper and molybdenum, is popular in the production of gasoline, solvents, explosives, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and food and synthetic materials. Alloy 20 nickel tubing is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy developed to resist pitting and chloride ion corrosion and its copper content protects it from sulfuric acid.

Function of both types of reducer is to reduce the line from a larger to a smaller pipe size, this obviously results in an increased flow pressure. With the eccentric reducer the smaller outlet end is off centre to the larger end enabling it to line up with one side of the inlet and with the other.

The concentric reducer is so manufactured that both inlet and outlet ends are on a common centre line. The concentric type is easier and less expensive to produce but does not allow quite the same versatility as the eccentric reducer. The lengths of both types are fixed by manufacturing standards.

Alloy 20 nickel pipe is made from a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of copper and molybdenum. Contains niobium for stabilization against sensitization resulting in intergranular corrosion. Has excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion in chemicals,containing chlorides and sulfuric, phosphoric, nitric acids.

Alloy 20 is a nickel–chromium–molybdenum stainless steel alloy developed for applications involving sulfuric acid. Its corrosion resistance also finds other uses in the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, power generation, and plastics industries. Alloy 20 resists pitting and chloride ion corrosion and its copper content protects it from sulfuric acid. Alloy 20 is not a stainless steel but a nickel alloy (ASTM). Alloy 20 is often chosen to solve stress corrosion cracking problems, which may occur with 316L stainless.
